How to Connect domain in Blogger


Follow these steps to connect your blog created on with your domain.

Getting the Necessary DNS Settings from Blogger

  • Log in to and select the blog you would like to connect to your domain.
  • In the left side menu, click Settings.
  • Scroll down to the Publishing section and select Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog.
  • Enter your domain name and click Save. In our example, we are using the domain
  • You will encounter an error message stating that Blogger has been unable to verify your authority of the domain and two CNAMEs will be displayed.

Creating the Subdomains

  • Next to the domain you want to connect to your Blogger site, click the Actions icon (gear) and select Manage Subdomains.
  • Click Add Subdomain.
  • Create a subdomain based on the first Name, Label, or Host
     field from Blogger. In the example above, it is www, so the subdomain is
  • Create a second subdomain based on the second Name, Label, or Host field from Blogger. It should be a random set of characters such as g03fbxeqattr8, so using our example domain, the subdomain to create is

Setting the CNAME Records

  • Next to your www subdomain, click the Actions icon (gear) and select DNS Settings.
  • Scroll down to the A/AAAA and CNAME Records section and select CNAME.

    Enter in the Alias field and click the checkbox below. Then, click Save at the bottom of the page.
  • Click Yes to confirm the changes.
  • Repeat this process for the second subdomain you created ( in our example) and enter the information from the second Destination, Target or Points To field in the Alias field.

    The second CNAME record will always be unique. For example, it could be something similar to

Setting the IP Address

If you are using a www subdomain for your Blogger site, you will also need to set an IP address to point your root domain (such as to Google’s servers.

Please note

If you are using a different, custom subdomain, such as, you can skip the following steps, return to Blogger, and click Save to connect your subdomain.

  • After saving your second CNAME record, you will be returned to the Subdomains tab for your domain. On the righthand side, click DNS Settings.
  • Scroll down to the A/AAAA Records panel and select Other IP Address. Then, enter in the IPv4 Address field and click Save.
  • Click Yes to confirm the changes.
  • You can now return to Blogger and click Save to connect the subdomain.

After connecting your www subdomain, you should enable the option Redirect to and once again click Save. This will allow visitors to access your blog by going directly to your domain (i.e. instead of specifically
